Georgina Maud Woodforde

Georgina Maud Woodforde was the eldest daughter of the Revd Alexander John Woodforde and Elizabeth Woodforde nee Laishley

She was born on 2nd November 1870 and died on 12th September 1950.

She married Edmond Clark (1870-1944), the son of Thomas H.B.Clark and Ellen Clark nee Baker.   They had four children.

Edmund, who was English-born, emigrated to Canada in 1885.  Eddie, their first child,  was born in Canada in June 1893, the same year that census records indicate Georgina arrived in the country.  In November 1897,  their daughter, Essie, was born in New York.

They were married on 16th May 1899.  Georgina returned to England in the same year with the two children and visited her father at Locking.


The children of Georgina and Edmond Clark

Edmond (Eddie) Clark who was born in June 1893 and died in 1912 of rheumatic heart disease.  He is buried in Mare Island Cemetery, Vallejo, California.

Esperance (Essie) Clark who was born in November 1897 and died on Christmas Day, 1916 in Montaville, USA.  It is said that she shot herself.

Cyril Clark, also known as 'Dag', who was born 1901 and died 1949.  He married Elizabeth who died in 1964.

Basil Clark who was born 1905 and married Dorothy.  He died in Portland, Oregon, in 1987.

The 1901 Canadian census records the family living in Fenwick, a farming township in the district of Algoma, Ontario. 

It is said that on a visit to Locking, Georgina explained that she had left her husband.  It is reported that her father told to return to him.

In the 1920 U.S. census, Georgina is shown as divorced.  She is living with Cyril and Basil. Aher ccording to one contemporary family member, 'Georgina married an American and lived in Portland, Oregon in straitened circumstances'.
